Happy New Year!

Sophie and Mary

I just realized it's been a while since the last post when we were still in Georgia. I think we have finally gotten in the groove with 2009 and back to routine. The girls are 15 months old now and had their checkup with the doctor last week. They have both grown over an inch in the past 3 months but have not gained much weight. Sophie is still not quite 20 pounds. But it is not a big concern since they grew in height, I just have to keep getting more calories in them. Wish I was the one with that problem!

We also found out that Mary is allergic to peanuts. BOO!!! I had my suspicions after she had some slight rashes that seemed to happen whenever she had peanut butter, the last one being the worse - all over her body. Fortunately there were not other effects, and the rashes went away after a nap or night's sleep. But she had a blood test at the doctor's office and it was confirmed. It's amazing how many foods don't have peanuts but may contain traces so we have to be really careful. We also have to get an epi-pen just in case.

Russ gave Peter and I some Georgia hats at Christmas. Also an MP3 player that I am still figuring out before I am ready to use it. Peter uses his all the time now. I have realized now that I've avoided these gadgets for so long because if you listen to headphones and sing along people may think you're an idiot. It's so hard! Peter said I should just listen to podcasts (he listens to Science podcasts) so I won't be tempted.

At any rate, back to the hats - we have enjoyed them but I think the girls enjoy them even more. They have their own hats but they like the big ones. I think they know how silly they look. They imitate us more all the time. Sophie has gotten to where she likes to pull around the diaper bag and carry my wallet around. But then sometimes she still likes to sit in her baby tub that we used to bathe her in the hospital. They may act big, but they are still babies after all. We have lots of fun watching them grow!
