Baby Fashion Show - 5 months old

This was an eventful week for our family. Thursday was our 9th wedding anniversary and we had our first babysitter (other than Grandma and Grandpa) so we could go out and celebrate. We just went downtown for dinner and drinks but it was nice to be able to go out as a couple again. Friday was Sophie and Mary's 5 month birthday. The girls have grown so much. Today I weighed both of them holding them and standing on our digital scale. So I had to weigh myself first and do the math to find the girls' weights. Sophie was 14.4 lbs and Mary was 15.2 lbs - big girl! The only drawback was that I had to see my weight, which I will not dare reveal! Let's just say I could stand to lose a few pounds.

The girls are fast outgrowing their 0-3 month clothes. We bought some onesies and pajamas the other day in a larger size. But today we got a package from Grandma Carol with lots of cute clothes for Mary and Sophie! So we had a baby fashion show to model a few select items. Sophie and I have played Baby Fashion Show before but not so much with Mary. So I started with Mary and could not resist the cute little pink sun dress with bloomers and a hat.

Dressed Up Mary

Sophie was next to model, so I chose a green jumpsuit, so I could see if it would be too long for her. Just a bit - but she'll grow into it fast. It was cute but not as darling as the pink dress. I think Sophie had the same opinion so I had to dress her up like Mary (Grandma sent matching outfits).

Mom, come on! Why does Mary get the pretty dress?

OK - this is a start. I could just hang out in these bloomers.

Now Sophie is pretty, too!

Good Dogs!

It's been a while since I've posted a picture of the boys. As you can see, they've become quite comfortable hanging out in the girls' room. Bailey is usually in there with me when I put them to bed. I say good night to the babies, then it's OK Bailey, let's go... If I have to go back in there to check on them at night, the boys want to come in and see what's going on.

Mary and Sophie went to lunch with me for the first time today. We went downtown to Himalayan Fusion and had lunch w/ Rhonda. She had not seen the girls since sometime in November. We'll have to get together for lunch more often so she can see the girls grow!

We just finished watching The Hoobs. The girls get to watch that every day before their dinnertime, and they get to watch Elmo's World in the morning. They get so sucked in sometimes - they don't even notice me when I get home from work!

The Hoobs - Aren't they cute?

Well, I'd better go fix some bottles before someone gets too cranky!

So Big!

I realized how big the girls are now when I saw some pictures that Peter took of me holding Mary. Peter was feeding Sophie at the time so just took a few close-up shots of her.

Sophie has been making vowel sounds for a while, and Mary is starting to make more noises now. They've both laughed out loud - Peter's made Sophie laugh, once when I was not here and again during bath time tonight, I made Mary laugh yesterday when Peter was not here. She squeals with him sometimes though, and that's so cute.

Simon and Bailey are really good with the girls. I've been neglecting them on the blog (and they've been getting a few less walks), so I need to post some pictures of them soon.

Sleeping Beauties

It happened last night - Mary and Sophie went to bed as usual around 7:00, but this time I did not have to go in their room until they woke up at 7:00 this morning. Will it happen again? I probably just jinxed it for tonight, ha, ha. That's OK. Usually someone wakes up and needs a pacifier or something in the middle of the night. I could probably just let them get themselves back to sleep when that happens, but then I might have 2 babies that are awake.

The girls just had their 4 month Doctor's appointment on Friday. They have grown a good bit and are closer to full-term baby weight now. Mary weighed 12 lb 5 oz and Sophie 12 lb 3 oz. Both girls laid on their bellies and rolled over for Dr. Wong. Sophie also showed off all the vowel sounds she can make now.

We are all doing great! The girls are more fun than ever. I'll post these pictures and write more later - Dad just got home from work.

Babies with Babies... and a NEW Baby!

Mary and Sophie are starting to play with the baby dolls they got for Christmas. They are starting to use their hands more now, which is pretty cool. And they are starting to put things in their mouth, as you can see from Sophie with her baby doll.

Cheerful Mary

Things get more fun as the girls are growing. They're just able to notice and do more things, which makes them easier to entertain and keep awake during the day. They enjoy watching and sometimes mimicking each other. Sophie loves watching her mobile, especially the octopus. Mary likes bouncing and looking out the window. They get to watch TV now too and usually watch the Hoobs on Sprout TV at 5:30 before they have dinner and go to bed.

Both girls are sleeping well at night now. We started a 7:00 bedtime around 3 months, and they are sleeping now until 7:00 in the morning with little interruption. So we are all sleeping better at night now. I think the long stretches of sleep are helping them grow more too. We'll find out at the doctor's office in 2 more weeks how much they weigh. Peter thinks it's around 12 pounds. They certainly feel heavier.

Palmer O'Neal Edge has arrived!

Baby Palmer

My cousin Jeffrey and his wife Susan just had a baby named Palmer O'Neal Edge. He was born on January 11 and was 7 weeks early. Mary and Sophie were 5 weeks 2 days early. But since Palmer is a "singleton," he was a little bigger than they would have been - he weighed 3 lbs 15 oz at birth, which is 1 oz less than Mary. He had to stay in NICU for about the same length of time as the girls and is now at home with Mom and Dad. I can't believe how much hair he has!

Mary is starting to get some hair, but nothing like Palmer. It's a little thicker though, and I could really tell when washing her hair during bathtime last night.

The girls look forward to playing with Palmer when we go down to visit family in Georgia!
